The five bedroom house has become a retreat for Bannatyne and his family. His wife Joanne says, "He really plays out here" and Bannatyne added that "He wouldn't have done anything different [to the house]". This reflects the regions long reputation for its ability to improve the health and well-being of its occupants. In the 18th century ailing British tourists would flock to the area in the hope that the better climate would cure their ailments.

The area was also visited by Queen Victoria and King Edward VII. More recently it has become home to the Cannes film festival which sees hundreds of celebrities flocking to the area during the event held in May of every year.
